The KSR College of Education celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti with great enthusiasm and reverence on October 2, 2024. The event commemorated the birth anniversaries of two of India’s most respected leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, paying tribute to their legacy of peace, non-violence, and integrity.

The celebration began by paying respects to the founder and freedom fighter Late Sri. Gavisiddappa Belawadi by performing Pooja to his statue by Principal, Staff and Students. Students cleaned the college campus as a mark of respect to dignity of labour upholding the slogan of our Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi Cleanliness is Service.

The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. B. G. Dharwad, Principal, KSR College of Education who was the Chief Guest for the occasion.

The formal function commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by Akshata Hattiholi and group, setting a peaceful and reflective tone for the celebration.

A warm welcome was extended to the Chief Guest and all attendees by Sneha Badiger. Ceremonial offering of flowers and Pooja was performed in front of the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The faculty and students participated.

To symbolize the unity in diversity that both Gandhi and Shastri advocated, readings from the Bible by Kavita Malage, Quran by Bibifatima Papa and Bhagavad Gita by Soumya Pujari were conducted. This interfaith reading symbolized the importance of peace, brotherhood, and tolerance, values upheld by both leaders. The students of the college Madhu Janagouda, Ramappa, Kamalaxi and Suresh Jangini delivered speeches honoring the life and contributions of both Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. They recited inspirational stories from their lives, highlighting the importance of their teachings in the contemporary world. The bhajan “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram”, one of Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite devotional songs, was performed by the students Soumya, Dhaneshwari and group The audience joined in the singing, filling the atmosphere with devotion and unity. Chief Guest: Dr. B. G. Dharwad delivered a thought-provoking speech on the timeless relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence (Ahimsa) and Shastri’s dedication to selfless service. He urged students to imbibe these values in their personal and professional lives, emphasizing that they are the true path to national and global harmony.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Akshata Hattiholi. Student Dhanraj anchored the program. Staff and students of 2nd and 4th semester were present on the occasion.

The program was a fitting tribute to the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, reminding everyone present of the importance of peace, non-violence, and the relentless pursuit of truth and integrity in everyday life.
